Baltimore County police have arrested an Essex man in connection with a fatal hit-and-run accident Friday.

Roger Michael Smith, 38, of the 13100 block of Eastern Ave. was charged with driving under the influence, driving while impaired and various hit-and-run charges. Police said Smith struck a female pedestrian while driving his truck near the intersection of Eastern Avenue and Ebenezer Road around 10:30 p.m.

Police responded to a call after the accident and found the truck a short time later, then arrested Smith at another location. The victim's identity was not disclosed last night.
