Baltimore City

Northern District

Robbery: A motorist was stopped in the 2300 block of Maryland Ave. about 11 a.m. Tuesday when he was approached by a man who appeared homeless and in need of help. When the man neared the vehicle, he pulled a handgun and ordered the motorist out of his 2000 Ford Explorer with tags M47870777. The gunman then robbed the motorist of $400, a cellular phone and drove off in the vehicle. The victim called police from a pay phone.

Robbery: A man, 28, was walking in the 500 block of W. 28th St. about noon Tuesday when a gunman stepped out of a van and robbed him of $20.

Southern District

Theft: Textbooks valued at $325 were stolen Wednesday from a 2002 Hyundai parked in the 600 block of S. Charles St.

Southeastern District

Burglary: A compact disc changer, equalizer and videocassette recorder - all valued at $430 - were stolen Tuesday from a house in the 800 block of S. Dean St.

Baltimore County

North Point Precinct

Officer assaulted: After Officer Michael Mertz stopped a motorist for speeding on Rolling Mill Road near North Point Boulevard about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, he ordered the driver out of his car when a check showed the man's license was suspended or revoked. Mertz was assaulted when he observed the man trying to conceal two vials of cocaine in his mouth. After the two fell to the ground, Officer William Isenhart arrived and together the officers subdued the man. Charged with assaulting a police officer was Lamont Strong, 32, of the 900 block of St. Dunstans Road, Baltimore.

Theft/arrests: On Nov. 29, security personnel at Kmart in the 200 block of North Point Blvd. viewed surveillance film showing a cashier placing items in a customer's bag without recording the sale. On Wednesday, the same cashier was viewed on film repeating the act with the same customer. Total value of the clothing and toys not paid for was nearly $700. Arrested Wednesday and charged with theft and theft by scheme were cashier Roxanne Adams, 31, of the 5900 block of St. Regis Road, and Shauntae Lynch, 31, of the 4400 block of Moravia Road, who police alleged was the customer.

Parkville Precinct

Burglary: Several pieces of antique jewelry, clothing and a video camera - all valued at $20,650 - were stolen Wednesday from a house in the 4000 block of Taylor Ave.

Garrison Precinct

Robbery: A man, 52, was standing outside his apartment in the first block of Warren Park Drive about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday when a man who implied he had a handgun robbed him of $230 in cash, and three watches.
