Frank Melvin Brown, 71, truck driver, veteran

Frank Melvin Brown, a retired truck driver, died of cancer Wednesday at his Glen Burnie home. He was 71.

Born and raised in Clover, Va., he attended Halifax Training School in Halifax, Va. He enlisted in the Army in 1952 and served as an ambulance driver in Germany until he was discharged in 1954.

He moved to East Baltimore in 1955, and worked as a driver for St. Johnsbury Trucking Co. and Consolidated Freightways. A longtime member of Teamsters Local 557, he retired in 1992.

He was a member of Bethel Grove Baptist Church in Mount Laurel, Va.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. today at Crownsville State Veterans Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Road.

Mr. Brown is survived by two brothers, Jesse F. Brown of Glen Burnie and William C. Brown of Catonsville; a sister, Mary L. Brown of Clover; and two nephews.
