Denaburg, Dr. Jerome G.

DR. JEROME G. DENABURG, age 91, of Atlanta, Ga. died November 30, 2002. DR. Denaburg a native Baltimorean, graduated City College in 1928. He attended the State Teachers College at Towson and received his first teaching job at Gwynns Falls Junior High School in 1931. Except for three years during World War II, in which he served in the South Pacific as Lieutenant Commander of the United States Navy, Dr Denaburg remained in the city school system for over 30 years. From 1939-1956, Dr. Denaburg was a science teacher at City College. He was appointed Vice Principal at Edmondson High School in 1956 and was named Principal of Forest Park High School in 1964. Dr Denaburg was Principal of City College from 1966-1972, following which he was an administrator in the Central Division of Baltimore Citys Education Department until his retirement in 1974. He received a Bachelors Degree in 1941 and a Masters Degree in Education in 1946, both from the University of Maryland , and he was awarded a Doctorate in Education in 1955 from Columbia University. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude C. Denaburg and is survived by his daughter, Jane Denaburg Leavey and her husband Robert, and grandchildren David and Anna Leavey, Jono Leavey, and MIchael and Jennifer Leavey. Services and Interment will be held Tuesday December 3 at 1 P.M. at Baltimore Hebrew Cemetery, Berrymans Lane.
