Ravens rushing vs. Bengals run defense
The Ravens showed restraint in staying committed to the running game despite trailing by 13 points early in the second quarter. They called 31 running plays compared to 22 passing. The of fensive line - especially left tackle Jonathan Ogden and left guard Edwin Mulitalo - opened gaping holes and running back Jamal Lewis plowed over the Bengals. Lewis recorded his fourth straight 100-yard game against Cincinnati.

Quarter back Jeff Blake stepped up at the right times, throwing touchdown passes of 39 and 22 yards. Without those scores, Blake was 8-for-17 for 54 yards. But he didn't force the issue in his re turn to Cincinnati and didn't throw an interception for just the second time in six starts. His 10 completions were the low est by a Ravens quarterback this season.

The Ravens held Bengals running back Corey Dillon under 100 yards for the first time in three meetings. Dillon, though, showed little in tensity, running out of bounds rather than fighting for yards. The Ravens held Dillon to 70 yards and a 3-yard average. Dillon's best run came on his 5-yard touchdown when he carried Ravens safety Ed Reed into the end zone. But in the pivotal fourth quarter, Dillon managed just 10 yards on three carries.

Although Cincinnati quarterback Jon Kitna threw for 308 yards, the Ravens got the better of him again. Rookie defensive back Chad Williams not only ran back an interception 98 yards for a touchdown, he also broke a Kitna tackle to do it. The Ra vens have returned two Kitna interceptions for touchdowns and would have three if not for Ed Reed's careless ball-handling three weeks ago.
Special teams
An unmarked Williams blocked a Bengals punt in the first minute of the fourth quarter, and fellow rookie Ron Johnson picked it up and ran 22 yards for a key touchdown. Ravens kicker Matt Sto ver missed field-goal attempts of 49 and 38 yards in difficult field conditions. Cincinnati kicker Neil Rackers missed his first extra point of the season in the first quarter.

Chad Williams. The Ravens rookie returned an interception 98 yards for a touchdown and blocked a punt that led to another touchdown.

Untimely penalties. The Ravens were flagged eight times for 79 yards, which could have cost them the game. John Jones" holding penalty negated a field goal, and flags on Peter Boulware and Randy Hymes set up the Bengals" field goal to end the first half.

Cornerback Chris McAlister (mildly sprained shoulder) sat out the final defensive play and is day-to-day. M-' Left guard Edwin Mulitalo (ankle), cornerback Gary Baxter (ribs) and defensive end Adalius Thomas (wrist) all missed time but returned.
