Today's game

Wake Forest (6-5, 3-4 ACC) at No. 25 Maryland (9-3, 5-2)

Site: Byrd Stadium, College Park

Time: Noon

TV/Radio: ESPN/WBAL (1090 AM)

Line: Maryland by 13 1/2

Series: Maryland leads 36-13-1

Last meeting: Maryland defeated Wake Forest, 27-20, last year in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Last week: Wake Forest beat Navy, 30-27. Maryland lost to Virginia, 48-13.

Wake Forest offense vs. Maryland defense: For the second year in a row, the Demon Deacons lead the ACC in rushing, gaining 243.7 yards per game. Tailbacks Tarence Williams and Chris Barclay have combined for 1,261 yards in an offense that runs 72 percent of the time. Maryland defends the run best, allowing 129.8 rushing yards a game, though it allowed two rushing touchdowns in the loss to Virginia.

Maryland offense vs. Wake Forest defense: In the loss to Virginia, the Terps' offense produced its first fast start since beating West Virginia. But nearly half of the team's 334 yards came on the first two drives. Bruce Perry's 95 yards rushing was a bright spot in the game. Wake's run defense has looked weak of late, allowing 255 yards to Florida State and 317 against Navy last week. Defensive end Calvin Pace, who has 21 tackles for losses this year, is expected to miss the game with a broken leg.

Special teams: Matt Wisnosky hit three field goals last Saturday for the Deacons to win ACC Specialist of the Week. Wake's Fabian Davis (1,544 yards from scrimmage) and Maryland's Steve Suter (1,502) are the ACC's top two gainers of all-purpose yardage, though punter Brooks Barnard and kicker Nick Novak give the Terps an advantage in the kicking game.
