Is that Christmas wreath on your door looking plain and ordinary this year? Maybe there's something snazzier you can pick up at the Carroll County Arts Council's Festival of Wreaths.
The event, held in Westminster, will have more than 150 decorated theme wreaths on display at a week-long silent auction, Tuesday through Dec. 7.
Decorators were provided with an artificial green wreath to use as a base. In previous years, wreath materials have included dried flowers, vines, metal, herbs and tile.
The public can bid on the wreaths and vote for their favorites throughout the event. Awards in several categories will be presented Saturday morning. In addition, on Saturday there will be a raffle of a handcrafted Santa statue, free craft activities for kids from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., a visit from Santa Claus at 3 p.m. and musical entertainment from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Bidding on the wreaths closes at 4 p.m. All proceeds benefit the arts council.
The festival takes place in the Winchester Exchange Building, 15 E. Main St., Westminster. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Free. Call 410-848-7272.
