On November 21, 2002 JOSEPHINE GEHLERT, formerly of Severna Park, survived by her husband of 24 years, Dr. Sidney Gehlert; a brother Arch Rizzo; a nephew, Dean Rizzo; nieces Debbie Johnson, Karen Johnson, Melissa Badovinac, Kathy Plaxa, Patti Pitler and Dana Ceribelli; a stepdaughter, Linda Gehlert and a stepson Rick Gehlert. Predeceased by her sisters, Angela Johnson and Carolyn Lee Bonadio and her first husband Emil Bonadio. She was a Life Master in Contract Bridge and conducted a Bridge Club for over 30 years in the Severna Park area. She moved there in 1958 and started her first club in the basement of her home. In 1973 she built a home designed to hold her bridge games and taught the game to many in the community. A life long bridge enthusiast, she retired in 1995 but continued to spend her winters on Hutchinson Islandin Florida playing bridge and teaching anyone who wanted to learn the game. Family will receive friends on Friday November 29 at 10:00 a.m. at the Oak Crest Village Chapel with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 10:30 a.m. Entombment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Grav, Gudmun L.
Master Chef GUDMUN LISSAU (Lee) GRAV, died on November 13, 2002, at his home in Perry Hall with his children Poul Grav, Lisa Grav and Linda Kalb at his bedside. They had just celebrated his 81st birthday on November 7. Born in Fredericia, Denmark in 1921, Lee began his culinary career at age 14 as a mess boy with the Danish Merchant Marines. He later joined the American Merchant Marines during WW II and survived numerous bombings and a sinking by a German submarine. Awarded for his service, Lees medals and citations were proudly displayed in his home. Lee retired from the seas as Chief Steward and by 1950 had become a naturalized citizen. He adopted Maryland as his home and quickly rose to level of Master Chef. Lees distinguished career at such establishments as the Governors Club, Maryland Golf and Country Club and Thompsons Sea Girt Restaurant led to his induction to Baltimores Great Chefs and national honors as a Certfified Executive Master Chef by the American Culinary Federation. Outside the food world Lee was a Master Mason for 50 years and supported benevolent activities as a member of the Shriners. His gentle ways, smiling disposition and joyous singing of Danish songs will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved Lee, including his grandchildren, Kristen, Niels, Brett, Kyle, Kesling and Luther.
