Pizza parlor worker fatally shot during robbery in Parkville

PARKVILLE - An employee of a Parkville pizza parlor was fatally shot during a robbery last night, Baltimore County police said.

The robbery occurred about 11:45 p.m. at Panda Pizza & Sub at 3007 E. Joppa Road. The identity of the victim was not available.

Police said no arrests had been made and that officers were on the scene early this morning.

Seven people are injured in two head-on collisions

ANNAPOLIS - Two separate head-on crashes in Anne Arundel County on Friday sent seven people to area hospitals and left two people in critical condition.

About 3 p.m. Friday, a Mercedes-Benz driven by Janks Morton, 62, of Davidsonville crossed the center line on Patuxent River Road in Davidsonville, hitting a Chevrolet van, according to police.

The driver of the van, Felipe Zepeda, 50, of Hyattsville, was flown to Prince George's Hospital Center, as were his passengers. One passenger, Juan Gonzales, 41, of Washington was listed in critical condition. Morton was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center, where he was in serious but stable condition.

In another accident, a Nissan driven by Rita Elizabeth Nurmi, 46, of Broomes Island, crossed the center line of Muddy Creek Road in West River and collided with a Ford Expedition about 7 p.m. Friday, police said. Nurmi was taken to Prince George's Hospital Center, where she was listed in critical but stable condition. Two people in the other car were taken to area hospitals.

Overturned tanker closes part of Ordnance Road

GLEN BURNIE - An overturned tanker truck carrying sodium nitrate forced the closure of Ordnance Road between Ritchie Highway and Route 10 yesterday afternoon, but did not leak any of its cargo, according to fire officials.

A truck from Superior Carrier Co. was transporting the liquid fertilizer from Chicago to Baltimore, said Lt. Frank Fennell.

No other cars were involved and no one was injured, Fennell said. Traffic was rerouted in the area for about six hours while the chemical was unloaded.
