Santa Claus to visit Carrolltown Center on Saturday
Santa Claus will visit Carrolltown Center in Eldersburg at 11 a.m. Saturday for a parade around the mall.
Escorting Santa will be Talent Express performers, the Freedom Fire Stars Majorettes, Sykesville police and fire departments, Boy Scouts, and Saddle Guys and Gals Drill Team.
Santa will greet children until 4 p.m. Photos will be available for $5.
A breakfast with Santa will be held at 9 a.m. Dec. 14. A holiday craft and story will be included. Reservations are required by Dec. 6 by calling 410-781-7070. The cost for breakfast and a photo with Santa is $7, or $5 without a photo.
Santa can be visited from noon to 4 p.m. Sundays and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays from Dec. 1 to Dec. 22, and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 20. Pet Night - when Santa will visit with your pet for a photo ($5) - will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 12 and 19.

Customer-service class scheduled for Dec. 5
Carroll County Chamber of Commerce and Carroll Community College will co-sponsor a seminar on "Phenomenal Customer Service" from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 5 at Best Western hotel in Westminster.
The seminar is for sales and customer service representatives, receptionists and secretaries, telephone customer service staff and others who have contact with the public.
Topics will include attitude, teamwork, understanding customers, coaching for positive results, creating a productive atmosphere and customer service.
Lyle B. Shughart from Consultative Services Group will lead the seminar.
The cost is $59. The registration deadline is Wednesday.

Dulany honored for effort in offering long-term care
William B. Dulany, board chairman for Episcopal Ministries to the Aging, has been given the 2002 Trustee of the Year Award from the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging.
The association recognizes individuals and organizations that advance the idea of healthy, affordable and ethical long-term care.
Dulany has served on EMA's board since 1983 and has been chairman since 1986. During his tenure, EMA has grown from one company, Fairhaven, to a multifaceted organization that owns Copper Ridge, Copper Ridge Institute and Buckingham's Choice.
He received his award at EMA's annual meeting Oct. 28-31.

Bank of Hanover recently opened its newest Carroll County branch in Westminster Shopping Center.
The full-service branch replaces the office on East Main Street.

Carroll County Business and Employment Resource Center offers workshops and programs for people who are looking for a job or a new career.
Programs topics include: career ability and orientation placement survey, preparing for a job fair, employment goal identification, choosing child care, surviving layoffs, applying for a state job, computer and Internet basics, job discrimination, computerizing resumes, interviewing, negotiating, starting a business, registering and posting resumes on the Internet, time and money management, networking, cover letters and resumes, and job references.
