Overturned tanker closes part of Ordnance Road
GLEN BURNIE - An overturned tanker truck carrying sodium nitrate forced the closure of Ordnance Road between Ritchie Highway and Route 10 yesterday afternoon, but did not leak any of its cargo, according to fire officials.
A truck from Superior Carrier Co. was transporting the liquid fertilizer from Chicago to FMC, a company in Baltimore that sells agricultural products, said Lt. Frank Fennell, a Fire Department spokesman.
No other cars were involved and no one was injured, Fennell said. Traffic was rerouted in the area for about six hours while the chemical was unloaded.
