Salisbury falls in Division III semifinals

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Rowan senior midfielder Jammie Hicks scored the game-winner 13 seconds into the second overtime to lead the Profs to a 3-2 win over Salisbury in the NCAA Division III field hockey semifinals at Benedum Field yesterday.

Rowan (20-0) jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first half on goals by junior forward Becky Peterson and junior forward Beth Raleigh.

The Sea Gulls (17-3) evened the score with two goals in the second half. Junior forward Lindsay Elliot scored at 42:11, and senior forward Jessica Manzone (Centennial) got the equalizer at 58:58.

Messiah College, a 1-0 winner over the College of New Jersey in yesterday's other semifinal, will meet the Profs for the championship today at 2. The Falcons (18-3) topped the Lions (13-3) in the semifinals for the second straight season on Danae Chambers' goal in the 61st minute.

Goals: S-Elliot, Manzone; R-Peterson, Raleigh, Hicks. Assists: S-Webster, Budd; R-Raleigh, Hicks. Saves: S-Taylor 11; R-Buteas 5. Half: R, 2-0.
