2nd teen indicted in the killing of Annapolis man

THE BALTIMORE SUN

An Anne Arundel County grand jury indicted a 19-year-old Annapolis man yesterday on charges including first- and second-degree murder in the carjacking and killing Sept. 19 of a video projection company owner in the city's historic district.

Terrence Tolbert of the 1300 block of Tyler Ave. in the Robinwood public housing neighborhood is charged in the death of Straughan Lee Griffin, 51. Tolbert and Leeander Jerome Blake, 17, also of the 1300 block of Tyler Ave., are accused of shooting Griffin, stealing his Jeep and running over him with it as they fled. Both are jailed without bond.

Besides the murder charges, Tolbert was indicted on counts of manslaughter, armed carjacking, armed robbery, three counts of conspiracy and two handgun charges.

The first-degree murder charge carries a possible life sentence or death penalty. Kristin Riggin, spokeswoman for the county state's attorney's office, said a decision has not been made on whether to pursue the death penalty.

Blake was indicted Nov. 1 on a charge of first-degree murder. Riggin said additional counts may be sought against him.
