DuPont Scholar series to feature Italian film

McDaniel College is holding the duPont Scholar series, "Cherish the Children: A Film/Discussion Series Celebrating Children Around the World."

Films and discussions explore cultural diversity through snapshots of children and their worlds around the globe.

The films and discussions are geared for adults, but most films are suitable for children 10 and older. Films will be introduced with a brief talk about the country, historical context and issues raised.

The series is free to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

The next film will be shown at 7 p.m. Dec. 2 in Decker Auditorium, Lewis Hall of Science. The Bicycle Thief (1948), Vittorio de Sica's drama of desperation and survival in post-World War II Rome, features a father whose job depends on his bicycle and the son who helps him pursue the thieves who have stolen it.
