Hospice will hold Tree of Lights ceremony Dec. 8
Hospice of the Chesapeake Auxiliary's annual Tree of Lights ceremony will begin at 5 p.m. Dec. 8 at Our Lady of the Chesapeake Church, 8325 Ventnor Road, Pasadena. The ceremony is an opportunity to remember a loved one during the holiday season.
The ceremony will begin with the lighting of the Tree of Lights, followed by meditation and music. For a contribution of $25, participants will receive a china star ornament, handpainted with the name of a loved one, and a dove bearing the name of their loved one will be placed on a memory wall.
All proceeds from the ceremony will benefit Hospice of the Chesapeake's Spiritual and Bereavement Care Center. The center offers spiritual and grief-counseling support regardless of ability to pay.

Lutheran church holding Christmas revival in tent
"Christmas Revival: An Event in a Tent" will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 behind Christ the Servant Lutheran Church in Severn Square Shopping Center, next to the Provinces Library.
The event will feature animals, costumed actors telling the Christmas story for a contemporary audience and familiar Christmas carols.
Hot drinks will be available in the tent during the revival with Christmas snacks served in the church immediately afterward.

Holiday craft bazaar set for Dec. 7 in Odenton
The Sodality of St. Joseph's Church in Odenton is sponsoring its 15th holiday craft bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Dec. 7 at the church, 1283 Odenton Road.
Fifty craft booths feature hand-painted items, stained glass, fleece baby buntings, lighthouse clocks, herbal gifts and American Girl doll clothes. Santa will be available for photos from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch and a bake sale will be offered.
Spirituality conference scheduled in Pasadena
The Resource Center for Theological Research will hold a conference, "The New Spirituality: Occult and New Age Influences on Society," on Dec. 6 and 7 at Pasadena Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 7975 Tick Neck Road.
The conference will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 6 and from 8:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 7. The format will consist of lectures and a question-and-answer session.
Featured speakers will be Ozzie Osgood, Marcia Montenegro and Jeff Downs. They will explore such topics as "I Hear Dead People: After-Death Communication," "The Dark Side: Satanism and Demonic Influences," "The Craft: Witchcraft and Wicca Today," "Unity School of Christianity" and "What's Your Sign? Contemporary Astrology." Others will examine aspects of the occult and New Age movement and their impact on society, in contrast with a biblical view.
Reservations are not necessary but are preferred by Dec. 5. Refreshments will be provided. The conference is free.
