MTA's holiday food drive begins this weekend

The Maryland Transit Administration is kicking off its Stuff-A-Bus food drive this weekend. Donations will support the Maryland Food Bank's efforts to provide food to families during the holiday season.

The MTA will be accepting nonperishable items from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. tomorrow and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the following Giant Food stores: Chatham Station Shopping Center, Ellicott City; Cranberry Square, Westminster; Southdale Shopping Center, Glen Burnie; and White Marsh Mall.

Police seek man, 24, charged in shooting

EDGEWOOD -- County sheriff's deputies are searching for a 24-year-old Havre de Grace man in connection with a shooting Monday evening in Edgewood, a department spokeswoman said yesterday.

Deputies issued an arrest warrant for Kory B. Putney, on charges including attempted murder, the sheriff's office said.

The victim, John Bolden, 43, who lives near Bel Air, was shot twice in the abdomen Monday night after he and his son, Reginald Bolden, 18, went in search of Putney, who they believed was involved in an armed break-in at the son's Bel Air home earlier in the day, authorities said.

School bus driver injured when truck hits his vehicle

NORRISVILLE -- A tree-removal truck smashed into the side of a Harford County school bus on foggy Norrisville Road yesterday, injuring the bus driver before his first stop to pick up students, the county sheriff's office reported.

The truck, driven by Randy Childress, 48, of Delta, Pa., was westbound on Route 136 when it struck the southbound bus on the driver's side.

Childress was treated at the scene; the bus driver, James E. Whiteford, 69, of White Hall, was reported in satisfactory condition at York Hospital in York, Pa.
