Police name killer, victim in murder-suicide

THE BALTIMORE SUN

The killer and victim of a murder-suicide in Northeast Baltimore's Beverly Hills neighborhood were identified yesterday by city police as a 34-year-old man and his 37-year-old girlfriend.

Police said Jamal Kalgii, who had no fixed address, entered the house in the 3200 block of Beverly Road about 7:45 p.m., forced Tracey Fields into a second-floor bedroom and fired two shots, as two of her daughters, ages 13 and 14, fled, crying to neighbors that their mother had been shot. A disabled and mute 7-year-old remained inside, and was unhurt.

More shots were heard by police officers, who surrounded the house for several hours before firing tear gas inside and entering - only to find the adults dead.

The children are being cared for by relatives, police said.
