Famous for its mysticism and artisans, the Israeli city of Tzfat will be the theme of a Hanukkah family festival on Sunday at the Jewish Community Center in Owings Mills.
Called "Chanukah in Tzfat," the event will celebrate the beauty of Tzfat during a program of art activities for children of all ages, entertainment and hands-on exploration of the city through photographs and maps. Participants can create crafts, play in puppet theater, make Hanukkah decorations, sing songs and eat Hanukkah food.
Instead of paying admission, participants are encouraged to bring items to include in Hanukkah baskets for Jewish students at area colleges. Suggested items include Hanukkah candles, dreidels, chocolate gelt or pre-wrapped kosher cookies.
"Chanukah in Tzfat" takes place from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Rosenbloom Owings Mills JCC at 3506 Gwynnbrook Ave. Call 410-356-5200, Ext. 371.
