After an 11-year hiatus, the Jewish Folk Arts Festival returns to the region this weekend. Things get under way with a concert at 8 p.m. Saturday, featuring Sephardic singer Flory Jagoda, the Jewish band Fabrangen Fiddlers and others. The concert takes place at the Hebrew Academy (formerly the Peary School) at 13300 Arctic Ave. in Rockville.
The festival continues Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. at the Shady Grove campus of the University of Maryland in Rockville (off Route 270 and Darnestown Road). There will be ethnic food, hands-on workshops, play shops for the kids and musical performances. Entertainers include the Machaya Klezmer Band and Lox and Vodka. Also, Judaic artists will display their arts and crafts.
Tickets for Saturday's concert are $12-$20. Tickets for Sunday's events are $6-$15. Call 301-309-2310 or visit www .jewishfolkartsfestival.org. - Dave Gordon
