Man robs bank in Columbia of an undisclosed amount

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A man robbed Farmers & Mechanics National Bank in Columbia's Dorsey's Search village yesterday of an undisclosed amount of money, Howard County police said.

The man entered the bank in the 9500 block of Old Annapolis Road about 2:20 p.m., according to police. He did not display a weapon, and he quietly approached a teller and demanded money, police said.

After receiving cash, he ran into a wooded area, police said.

Police described the man as white, in his 30s, about 5 feet 9 with a heavy build and a goatee. He was wearing a white and red baseball cap, a dark jacket and jeans, police said.

The bank also was robbed Aug. 22; a Westminster man was arrested and charged in that incident. Police do not believe the robberies are related.

Anyone with information about yesterday's robbery is asked to call police at 410-313- 3200. Metro Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of anyone involved in the crime.
