Trademarks seminar set for tomorrow

The Howard County Economic Development Authority's Center for Business and Technology Development will offer a new seminar in its entrepreneurial series: "Register a Trade or Service Mark for Your Business." Attorney Daryl Caplan will explain how to protect a business name and logo to prevent costly consequences.

The workshop will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow at the Center for Business and Technology Development, 9250 Bendix Road North, Columbia. The cost is $25. Registration is required.

Business information program at Savage library

The Baltimore/Washington Corridor Chamber of Commerce's Business Information Council has arranged for the Savage branch library to offer a presentation on how to use the library's written and electronic resources for research from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday.

The presentation will be held in the library's meeting room, 9525 Durness Lane. A sign will be posted to direct visitors to the BWCC seminar. Admission is free.

The chamber will sponsor a "Power Networking Breakfast" from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. tomorrow at Comfort Suites in Laurel. A speaker, literature table, three-minute presentations, a drawing and door prizes are planned. Patuxent Publishing Co. is the sponsor.

The cost is $20 in advance for members; $30 at the door for members and nonmembers. Reservations are requested. Twenty-four hour notice is required for cancellations.
