Olive Mable Dunnett, 92, church secretary

Olive Mable Dunnett, a retired church secretary who returned to college and earned her second bachelor's degree when she was 79, died of heart failure Nov. 9 at Homewood at Plum Creek retirement community in Hanover, Pa. A former Cockeysville resident, she was 92.

Born Olive Mable Johnson in Glenfeld, Pa., she was raised in Sewickley, Pa., and graduated from high school there in 1929. She earned her bachelor's degree in commerce from Grove City College in Grove City, Pa., in 1936.

She was married in 1938 to William G. Dunnett, an accountant. He died in 1972.

While living in Batavia, N.Y., Mrs. Dunnett worked as church secretary and director of religious education at First Presbyterian Church.

In 1953, she and her family moved to Cockeysville. Later, she became church secretary at Govans Presbyterian Church in Govans. She was an active member of Govans Presbyterian Church and Ashland Presbyterian Church.

She had been a resident of Hanover since 1981.

Mrs. Dunnett was 75 when she returned to York College and began studying for her second bachelor's degree - this time, in the humanities - which she earned in 1989.

Services were held Tuesday.

Mrs. Dunnett is survived by a son, William J. Dunnett of Hampstead; a daughter, Laura Jane Dunnett Phelps of Hanover, Pa.; a brother, Donald N. Johnson of Orlando, Fla.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
