Maryland offense vs. Clemson defense: The Terps have run for 200 yards or more in six of the past seven games, including a 202-yard effort in the N.C. State win. Clemson's improved pass defense (ranked 18th nationally) is led by cornerbacks Brian Mance and Justin Miller, who both have five interceptions this season. Defensive tackle Nick Eason has seven sacks.
Maryland defense vs. Clemson offense: After committing 17 turnovers in six games, Clemson switched to Charlie Whitehurst at quarterback. The Tigers have cut down to three turnovers in the past two wins, while gaining 1,009 yards. Maryland, while struggling for much of the game, shut down N.C. State's attack for the final 20 minutes of the win, forcing quarterback Philip Rivers to miss 10 of his last 14 passes.
Special teams: Maryland continues to have one of the better return coverage teams in the league and will challenge Clemson's Derrick Hamilton, who is probably the second best returner in the conference, behind the Terps' Steve Suter. Nick Novak leads the ACC in field-goal percentage (.833) and field goals (1.5 per game).
