A 64-year-old Crofton man was killed Wednesday afternoon when a concrete truck smashed into the driver's side of his 1993 Cadillac Allante at Route 3 and Crawford Boulevard, Anne Arundel County police said.

Blair P. Overton III of Dryden Way in Crofton was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident, which occurred at 1:20 p.m., brought traffic on Route 3 to a standstill, police said.

The truck driver, Lawrence E. Thompson of Dunkirk, was not injured, police said. He tried to stop but could not avoid the Cadillac, which had pulled into the intersection, police said. The investigation is continuing.
