Two women critically injured in car, dump truck crash

THE BALTIMORE SUN

An elderly woman and her daughter were in critical condition last night after a dump truck lost control on a rain-slick road in Davidsonville and struck their Chevrolet Caprice head-on, Anne Arundel County police said.

The two were among four people sent to area hospitals after the 7:30 a.m. accident, which shut down Davidsonville Road for more than two hours.

The Caprice driver, Linda Lea Suit, 62, of Harwood, was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where she was being treated for fractures, police said.

Her mother, Doris Mae Fowler. 82, of Harwood was taken to Prince George's Trauma Center.

Fowler was being treated for a collapsed lung, chest trauma and numerous fractures, police said.

Police said the driver of the dump truck, Mario L. Contreras, 27, of Farragut Court in Annapolis, lost control on a right curve in a southbound lane of Davidsonville Road and crossed the center line before striking the northbound Caprice.

He and passenger Jose Alfredo Mojica Hercules, 21, of Primrose Road in Annapolis were taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center for minor injuries, police said.

The truck's front end locked with the Caprice, and both vehicles spun off the roadway into an embankment, police said.

Suit was pinned in the driver's side of the Caprice for more than an hour before emergency workers were able to free her, police said.

No one has been charged in the accident, and police are investigating, said Officer Charles Ravenell, a police spokesman.
