8 AAMC staffers named to area's 'Top Doctors' list

Eight physician specialists at Anne Arundel Medical Center have been named in Baltimore magazine's list of "Top Doctors," taken from the Best Doctors in America database.

Center-affiliated doctors on the list are anesthesiologist David H. Corddry; cardiologists Jonathan A. Altschuler, Elizabeth M. Kingsley and Mitchell L. Schwartz; infectious disease specialist David C. Barnes; oncologist Stanley P. Watkins Jr.; neurosurgeon Thomas B. Ducker; and pediatric specialist Samuel M. Libber.

Hospital announces staff appointments

Anne Arundel Medical Center has announced the following appointments:

Dr. Marco Mejia has been appointed director of the hospital's cardiac care lab. He is a graduate of the University of Utah School of Medicine in Salt Lake City and completed his cardiology fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Paula Wadley has been named laboratory director at the center. The lab includes the blood bank, donor center, histology, pathology, core lab, microbiology and the blood draw station in the Sajak Pavilion. She earned her master of science degree at the University of Maryland.

Thelma Hoerl, a registered nurse, has joined the staff as supervisor of the Edwards Outpatient Surgical Pavilion. Hoerl previously served as a consultant for surgical services with Johnson & Johnson Health Care for five years and served seven years as a facility administrator and clinical manager for Health South of Central Maryland.
