Barber, Jerry Lee

JERRY LEE BARBER, 66, passed November 5, 2002 at Northwest Hospital Center, Randallstown, MD. Jerry was born in Norfolk, VA., was a retired auto mechanic for Bank of Maryland. He was the son of the late Theodore and Flossie Barber. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his wife Valerie Barber of Baltimore, MD., four daughters Nadine Barber, Vera Barber, Leterel Lewis, and Tonya Bryant, three sons Theodore Taylor, James Barber and Ovell Barber, a sister Dorothy Towner of Norfolk, VA. and a brother Maurice Barber and wife Gracie of Virginia Beach. Other survivors include step-children Marcus Coley, Kendra Coley, Kendull Coley, Alonzo Coley and god-daughters Kendra and Kay Walker, all of Baltimore, niece Courtney Barber, nephews Fontaine Barber and Maurice Barber Jr., all of Virginia Beach. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Mildred Douglas of Baltimore and a host of grandchildren, cousins and friends. Visitation at THE DERRICK C. On November 8, 2002 GLADYS JACOBSON of 9 Kline Boulevard at the home of her son and daughter-in-law; beloved wife of the late Nathan Jacobson; devoted mother of Karl Jacobson and his wife Suzanne of Frederick, MD and Susan Zuravin and her husband Charles of Columbia, MD. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Kaitlin, Nathan and Hannah Jacobson. Born December 25, 1917 in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Samuel I. Spielman and Elsie Davis Spielman. She was a graduate of Forest Park High School in Baltimore, MD and later of Goucher College in Towson, MD Prior to retirement, she was employed for many years as a social worker and social work supervisor at the Frederick County Department of Social Services. Mrs. Jacobson greatly enjoyed playing Bridge and Mah Jong with her many friends as well as participating in various volunteer and social activities. She was a member of the Board of Directors of the Frederick County Department of Social Services, the Board of Directors of Community Living and a docent at the Historical Society. She was also Vice President of the Beth Sholom Social Club. Funeral services will be held on November 11 at 1 p.m. at the Stauffer Funeral Home P.A., 1621 Opossumtown pike, Frederick, MD. Mrs. Jacobson will be buried at United Hebrew Cemetery, 3901 Washington Boulevard, Arbutus, MD.
