NFL WEEK 10

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Indianapolis (4-4) at Philadelphia (6-2)

Time: 1 p.m. today.

TV: Ch. 9.

Line: Eagles by 9.

Last meeting: Colts won, 44-17, at Philadelphia on Nov. 21, 1999.

Key stat: Colts have been outscored 77-46 in their three-game losing streak.

Worth watching: Colts' Marvin Harrison leads NFL with 69 catches. Duce Staley paces Eagles with 546 yards rushing (4.4 avg.).

Outlook: The Colts are again going without Edgerrin James, leaving them little chance for a running game against the Eagles' third-ranked rushing defense. The Eagles are in for another methodical win.

N.Y. Giants (4-4) at Minnesota (2-6)

Time: 1 p.m. today.

Line: Pick 'em.

Last meeting: Vikings won, 28-16, at Minnesota on Nov. 19, 2001.

Key stat: Vikings' turnover differential is NFL-worst minus 15.

Worth watching: Vikings' Michael Bennett (556 yards, 4.8 avg.) is going for his third straight 100-yard rushing game. Tiki Barber leads Giants with 545 yards (4.1 avg.).

Outlook: The Giants' offense showed some life last week after coach Jim Fassel took over the play calling. The Vikings' defense is a mess.

Seattle (2-6) at Arizona (4-4)

Time: 4:05 p.m. today.

Line: Cardinals by 3 1/2 .

Last meeting: Cardinals won, 24-13, at Seattle on Sept. 15.

Key stat: Seahawks have been outscored 93-61 in their four-game losing streak.

Worth watching: Cardinals' Thomas Jones had 173 of his 457 rushing yards in the first meeting. Shaun Alexander leads Seahawks with 500 yards (3.4 avg.).

Outlook: The Seahawks have lost four straight and the Cardinals have dropped two in a row. The Cardinals have at least an outside shot at the playoffs, so they have more motivation.

New England (4-4) at Chicago (2-6)

Time: 4:15 p.m. today.

TV: Chs. 13, 9.

Line: Patriots by 3 1/2 .

Last meeting: Bears won, 24-17, at Soldier Field on Dec. 10, 2000.

Key stat: Four of the Bears' losses have been by six points or fewer.

Worth watching: Patriots' Tom Brady leads NFL with 19 TD passes. Bears' Marty Booker is second in NFC with five TD catches.

Outlook: All four Patriots losses have been to playoff-caliber teams. Continuing uncertainty at quarterback -ailing Jim Miller or healthy Chris Chandler - makes the Bears' task harder.

Kansas City (4-4) at San Francisco (6-2)

Time: 4:15 p.m. today.

Line: 49ers by 6 1/2 .

Last meeting: 49ers won, 21-7, at San Francisco on Nov. 12, 2000.

Key stat: 49ers are second in NFL with plus-10 turnover differential.

Worth watching: Chiefs' Priest Holmes leads NFL with 857 rushing yards and 13 rushing TDs. Garrison Hearst leads 49ers with 457 rushing yards (4.8 avg.).

Outlook: Jeff Garcia, who has thrown 12 TD passes, takes aim at the NFL's worst defense. The Chiefs can't stop anybody, so the 49ers should roll to victory.

Miami (5-3) at N.Y. Jets (3-5)

Time: 8:30 p.m. today.

TV: ESPN.

Line: Jets by 2.

Last meeting: Dolphins won, 30-3, at Miami on Sept. 22, 2002.

Key stat: Jets have beaten Dolphins four straight at home.

Worth watching: In his four starts, Jets' Chad Pennington has completed 76.9 percent of his passes with a 108.5 QB rating. Dolphins' Patrick Surtain is tied for NFL lead with four interceptions.

Outlook: Pennington waited until his third season to get a chance and has taken advantage of it. Dolphins expect to go with banged-up Ray Lucas at quarterback.
