Education project with Northrop wins a national award

The Anne Arundel County and Anne Arundel Community College educational partnership with Northrop Grumman Corp.'s electronic systems sector has won a national award.

The National Council for Continuing Education and Training, an affiliate of the American Association of Community Colleges, gave the partnership its Exemplary Progress Award in the Workforce Development category at the council's national conference last month in Richmond, Va.

The award follows a successful 40th-anniversary year in which AACC was named Community College of the Year and received the 2002 Excellence in Academic Libraries Award.

County government has funded the Northrop initiative through the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corp.
