Savage Historical Society is to meet at 7 p.m. Nov. 18

The Savage Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Nov. 18 at Savage United Methodist Church Faith & Ministry Center, 9032 Baltimore St. (Foundry Street entrance), Savage.

The society's Times to Remember 2003 calendar will be available for purchase from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Dec. 16 at the center. The cost is $5.

Preschool plans workshop for parents Thursday

Emmanuel Methodist Preschool, 10755 Scaggsville Road (Route 216), will sponsor workshops for parents, educators and child care professionals who care for children ages 2 to 10, "How Can I Help My Child?"

"Creative Discipline - Limit Setting With Love" will be the topic from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday.

Holiday craft fair slated Sunday at Laurel school

The South Laurel Recreation Council will hold its 27th Annual Holiday Craft Fair from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Deerfield Run Elementary School and Community Center, 13000 Laurel-Bowie Road, Laurel.

Registration for the council's December holiday workshops for children, families, teen-agers and adults will be available from noon to 4 p.m. at the fair.

Agewell exercise: Savage Senior Center, 9525 Durness Lane, is planning a Level One 50+ Agewell exercise class at 11 a.m. Wednesdays. The emphasis will be on reducing arthritic pain and stiffness and improving balance. The exercises can be done standing or sitting. The class, sponsored by Howard County General Hospital, will begin when 10 people register. The cost is $24 for 16 classes. Edith Bennett, 410-880-5915.

War memories: The Savage branch library, 9525 Durness Lane, will present a program with World War II veterans Raymond Lee and Rhua Flock, who will share their memories of the war. The program, "Faces of War," will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow. Lee was an Air Force bombardier in Italy, while Flock served in the United States as a Marine staff sergeant. Basket bingo: The Savage Volunteer Fire Company's Ladies Auxiliary will hold a basket bingo at 7 p.m. Nov. 16 in the Savage Volunteer Fire Company Hall, 8925 Lincoln St. The kitchen will open at 5 p.m. Admission is $15 in advance; $17 at the door, if unsold tickets remain.
