In Baltimore City, 2 youths remain in hospital after crash with officer
Two youths remained hospitalized yesterday, one of them in critical condition, after a collision at an East Baltimore intersection of a city police cruiser on an emergency call and a Cadillac occupied by three teen-agers, authorities said.
Southeastern District Officer Heidi Hebron, 35, was responding to a "Signal 13" for an officer needing help about 10 p.m. and was eastbound on Fayette Street when her car -- with siren and emergency lights on -- collided with the Cadillac that was heading south on Broadway, police said.
Hebron and a passenger in the car, Delanie McCloud Jr. 17, of the 1100 block of S. Monroe St., were released after treatment at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
The driver of the Cadillac, Edward Desmond, 17, of the 2100 block of Division St., was in critical condition at Hopkins, while another passenger, Lamont Smith, 17, of the 1100 block of Nanticoke St., was in serious condition. The accident remained under investigation.

Housing Commissioner Paul T. Graziano said he was sorry to see Copes leave, calling her "a great employee and a great asset to the agency and the city of Baltimore."
