Peter Kolb, 86, worked for GM for 40 years

Peter Kolb, a retired General Motors Corp. maintenance worker, died of heart failure Monday at Nichols Sheltered Home for the Elderly in Edgewood. He was 86.

Mr. Kolb, a Joppa resident, was born in Baltimore and raised in Fells Point. He attended city public schools.

He began working at GM's Broening Highway plant in 1940 in the maintenance department and retired in 1980.

Mr. Kolb enjoyed buying and repairing antique clocks, and also designed and made stained-glass lamps.

In 1939, he married Laura Magalski. She died in 2000.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. today at McComas Funeral Home, 1317 Cokesbury Road, Abingdon.

Mr. Kolb is survived by his daughter, Eileen Choberlien of Joppa; a stepson, Robert Charton of Baltimore; a stepdaughter, Dolores L. Hearn of Joppa; a brother, Marion Kolb of Maryland; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
