Two killed in unrelated Glen Burnie accidents

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Two people - a mo-ped driver and a pedestrian - were killed in separate accidents within less than an hour of each other Friday night in Glen Burnie, Anne Arundel County police reported.

In the first incident, a Glen Burnie man died about 5 p.m. when the mo-ped he was driving south on Crain Highway collided with a Ford truck that was turning left from the northbound lane onto Furnace Branch Road, police said.

The driver of the mo-ped, whose name was being withheld pending notification of relatives, suffered a head injury. His passenger, Gail M. Lycett, 41, of the 1000 block of First St. in Glen Burnie, was in critical condition last night at University of Maryland Medical Center.

Neither the driver of the truck, Ryan A. Long, 17, of the 900 block of Hammonds Lane in Brooklyn Park, nor his passenger was hurt, police said.

In the other accident, Kae Hwa Jeon was fatally injured shortly before 6 p.m. Friday when she was hit by a truck as she crossed Aquahart Road near Crain Highway, police said.

Jeon, of the first block of Aquahart Road, crossed the eastbound lanes, stopped in the middle of the road, then darted into the path of a westbound Ford truck, police said.

The driver, Scott E. Rolland, 40, of the 800 block of White Ave. in Linthicum, was not injured.
