A campaign to identify minority- and woman-owned businesses in Annapolis that can participate in the procurement process has been launched by Mayor Ellen O. Moyer.
One project, the Minority and Women's Business Networking Forum, will be held every other week from 10:30 a.m. to noon at Asbury United Methodist Church at 87 West St. The forums are sponsored by the Office of Economic Development/Minority and Women's Business Enterprise. They will help the city identify suppliers that are not on its vendor list and provide information about coming capital projects, permits, inspections and other information. Business owners will be able to introduce themselves and network with other business people and local, state, and federal officials.
There will also be a summit series on minority business and development starting tomorrow at the city council chamber at Annapolis City Hall. The summit will be six sessions, and will be held once a month from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The session is by invitation.
Invitees will make up a focus group to work with city officials and business leaders.
