Essex man gets 25 years in shaking death of son
TOWSON -- An Essex man was sentenced to 25 years yesterday for shaking his 33-day-old son to death last year.
Julio Pulido, 25, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder last week. Pulido and the baby's mother, Rosa Angela Gomez, 19, declined to speak at the sentencing hearing in Circuit Court.
After getting a 911 call from Pulido's house in the 1300 block of Sugarwood Circle on Oct. 10 last year, rescue workers found Victor Julio Pulido Jr. lying on the living room sofa, prosecutors said. Doctors at Johns Hopkins Hospital's pediatric intensive care unit determined the baby had a fractured skull, bleeding in the brain and bilateral detached retinas. The medical examiner's office ruled the death a homicide, police said.
Police seek man charged in string of bank holdups
TOWSON -- Baltimore County police were looking yesterday for Eric E. Gilyard, 33, of Baltimore, who is charged in a warrant with robbing four banks in Baltimore County.
Gilyard, whose last known address was in the 5000 block of Hillen Road in Northeast Baltimore, is charged with robbing First Mariner Bank branches on Oct. 9, Oct. 21, Oct. 23 and Tuesday.

Pimlico man, 31, charged in 3 bank holdups in county
COCKEYSVILLE -- A 31-year-old Baltimore man was being held yesterday at the Cockeysville Precinct on charges of robbing three banks last month, including one Thursday where a dye pack in the stolen money exploded and led to his arrest.
Salvatore Saccheri of the 4400 block of Groveland Ave. in Pimlico was charged with three counts of bank robbery in connection with the holdups of a Bank of America branch in the 1500 block of Merritt Blvd. in Dundalk on Oct. 25; a Provident Bank branch in the 2800 block of Smith Ave. in Pikesville on Monday ; and a Bank of America branch in the 11300 block of York Road in Cockeysville on Thursday. He was being held yesterday in lieu of $75,000 bond.
Hunt is on for men behind armed robberies at ATMs
ROSEDALE -- Baltimore County police said yesterday they are searching for three men involved in two armed robberies of automatic teller machine customers at the Point Breeze Credit Union during the past week.
The men, armed with semi-automatic handguns, robbed a man using the ATM at the credit union in the first block of Philadelphia Court on Oct. 24. A second man was robbed the next day, police said.

Edgewood boy, 17, killed in crash on Route 136
BEL AIR -- A 17-year-old Edgewood boy was killed yesterday morning on Route 136 near Hookers Mill Road after he lost control of his Plymouth sedan, state police said.
Scott Bishop of the 1300 block of Apple Ridge Court lost control of his car traveling north on Route 136, crossed over the center line and hit a Ford pickup truck about 8:30 a.m. Attempting to gain control of the car, he crossed the center line again and struck a six-wheel box truck, according to troopers from the Bel Air barracks.

Arundel High teacher indicted in abuse case
An Arundel High School English teacher and drama coach was indicted yesterday on charges that he abused a 16-year-old student.
The teacher, Lawrence Alan Mintline Jr., 36, of Glen Burnie, was arrested Oct. 8 and charged with fondling the student. He posted $7,500 bond.
Mintline was suspended from work last month.
