Calvert Co. man dies in crash in Rose Haven

ROSE HAVEN - A Huntingtown man died about 2 a.m. yesterday after his car hit a telephone pole off Walnut Avenue in Rose Haven, Anne Arundel County police said.

Michael Allen Gaetano, 21, of the 400 block of Carla Drive suffered a broken neck and was pronounced dead at the scene. He had been southbound on Walnut Avenue when his black 1993 Honda Del Sol spun out of control and went off the road. He was not wearing a seat belt, police said.

Police are looking for a dark-blue Saturn of recent make that was seen leaving the area of the crash at high speed.

Hanover Street bridge to close today for repairs

The Hanover Street bridge will be closed for most of today for repairs, the city Office of Transportation announced.

All lanes in both directions are scheduled to be closed until 10 p.m., weather permitting, for repairs to the mechanical components of the draw span.

Detour routes will be posted. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes.
