Emma F. Zentgraf, a retired Hutzler's department store sales associate and homemaker, died of heart failure Oct. 16 at the home of a daughter in Mount Airy. She was 86.

She was born and raised Emma Follmer in Milton, Pa., but moved to Baltimore and attended Western High School.

In 1932, she married Albert H. Zentgraf, a tailor in Baltimore's Garment District. He died in 1992.

For more than 57 years, until moving to Mount Airy in 1995, Mrs. Zentgraf lived in a Carrollton Avenue rowhouse across from Hollins Market in Southwest Baltimore.

She worked as a sales associate in the linen department of the old Hutzler's Westview store from 1956 until retiring in 1978.

Mrs. Zentgraf was an enthusiastic card player and enjoyed poker, pinochle and Oklahoma rummy, family members said. "She was playing cards, sometimes twice a day, up until a few days before her death," said daughter Marge Howard of Mount Airy.

Mrs. Zentgraf had been a longtime communicant of St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Southwest Baltimore.

A funeral Mass was offered Monday.

Mrs. Zentgraf also is survived by two sons, Albert C. Zentgraf of Pasadena and Thomas J. Zentgraf of Morrell Park; two other daughters, Peggy Drowsky of Morrell Park and Mary Lou Davis of Mount Airy; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren.
