Aaron Warfield Carter, an engineer who played lacrosse, died Sunday afternoon after his car ran off Yeoho Road in northern Baltimore County and crashed. The Cockeysville resident was 26.

He was a mechanical engineer for RMF Engineering on Ostend Street in Baltimore for the past two years. He worked earlier as a field engineer for ABB, a power systems equipment supplier.

"He was filled with enthusiasm -- he would take the challenge, complete the task and exceed the expectations," said Rick Borkowicz, an RMF manager from Westminster. "He was certainly the life of his department. He was a fun guy to be around."

Born in Anaheim, Calif., and raised in Monkton, Mr. Carter attended St. James Academy and was a 1994 graduate of Calvert Hall College High School. He earned a degree in mechanical engineering from the State University of New York Maritime College in the Bronx, where he was president of its Phi Rho Pi fraternity chapter.

He played in club lacrosse competitions and also enjoyed woodworking.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow at the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ Roman Catholic Church, 20 E. Ridgely Road, Timonium.

Mr. Carter is survived by his parents, James P. and Anne Boyce Hiss Carter of Monkton; a sister, Elizabeth G. Carter of Monkton; his grandmothers, Peggy D. Hiss of Towson and Shirley J. Carter of Victorville, Calif.; and an aunt, Susie H. Thomas of Baton Rouge, La.
