Deborah I. Foard, 45, UM Medical Center nurse

Deborah I. Foard, a University of Maryland Medical Center nurse, died Friday of a brain tumor at Stella Maris Hospice in Timonium. The Jacksonville resident was 45.

Mrs. Foard worked in the hospital's intensive care unit, and won the University of Maryland Nurse of the Year Award in 1989.

Born Deborah Adelong in Baltimore and raised in Lutherville, she was a 1975 graduate of Towson High School. She earned degrees from Villa Julie College and University of Maryland hospital's nursing school, where she graduated in 1985.

Services will be held at noon today at the Chapel of Stella Maris Hospice, 2300 Dulaney Valley Road, Timonium.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 21 years, Michael B. Foard; two sons, Bradley, 15, and Eric, 10; her mother, Evelyn Adelong of Hunt Valley; and a sister, Susan Gruhn of Hanover, Pa.
