Job and career fair to be held Nov. 8 in HCC's Galleria

Howard Community College, in cooperation with the Howard County Chamber of Commerce, will hold a Fall Job/Career Fair from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 8 in the college's Galleria, 10901 Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia.

Employers' representatives will discuss opportunities, accept applications and schedule interviews. Participants can take resumes for review by HCC career counselors and can access a new job-search database, "Jobs on Line."

The fair is open to the public. Admission is free.

Physicians lab symposium is scheduled Oct 31

COLA, a Columbia-based health care accreditation and education organization, and the University of Maryland School of Medicine will jointly sponsor the 17th Annual Physician Office Laboratory Symposium from Oct. 31 through Nov. 3 at the Baltimore-Washington International Airport Mariott Hotel.

The meeting will offer credit hours for physicians to become laboratory directors of moderately complex laboratories.

Animal hospital owner gives 'Mutt Mitts' to parks

David Tayman, owner of Columbia Animal Hospital, has donated "Mutt Mitt" stations for the county's off-leash dog park at the former New Cut Landfill.

Tayman also provides the heavy-duty plastic bags to Rockburn, Centennial, Schooley Mill, Savage and Cedar Lane parks; Wincopin and Mill trail heads; Lake Elkhorn, Lake Kittamaqundi, Wilde Lake, Jackson Pond and the park in Town Center; and the Howard County Animal Control facility.
