Long & Foster honored for relocation skills

Long & Foster Real Estate Inc. has been awarded the Relo Quality Certification by the Chicago-based Relo network.

The award recognizes quality and performance in the relocation industry. Wes Foster, president of Long & Foster, said, "We have worked very hard to build a relocation program that offers unmatched real estate services to families relocating into or out of our region. ... Having our efforts recognized with this prestigious designation from an organization with standards as high as Relo is extremely gratifying."

Artery Homes opens The Vistas at Springdale

Artery Homes has announced the opening of The Vistas at Springdale, an enclave of 30 1- to 3-acre luxury homes in Middletown, Frederick County.

Features include marble foyers, gourmet kitchens featuring Corian counter tops and ceramic flooring, and baths featuring Jacuzzi soaking tubs and "spa" showers.

Bovis Lend Lease completes St. John's work

Bovis Lend Lease of Washington has completed the St. John's College-Mellon Hall and Francis Scott Key Auditorium expansion project.

Bovis provided management services for the $11.3 million project, which involved renovations to 70,000 square feet of classrooms and the addition of 7,000 square feet of classrooms and 2,000 square feet of reading room and cafe space.

Mellon Hall, built in 1958, was designed by architect Richard Neutra. The building is considered a historic structure.

Mason Contractors picks Frost Miller Group

Mason Contractors of America has named Bethesda-based Frost Miller Group as marketing agent for Masonry Showcase 2003, a trade show scheduled for March 12-15 in Tampa, Fla.

Frost Miller will provide advertising and direct-mail services for the event, which attracts mason contractors and dealers from around the country.

Slenker Land Corp. opens models at The Pointe

The model homes are open at The Pointe, the final neighborhood of South River Colony, a Master Planned Golf Community near Annapolis.

Centex Homes and Drees Homes are building luxury townhomes. These 24-foot-wide homes feature three to four levels of luxury living, brick exteriors, and two car garages. Centex Homes is priced from the upper $300s and Drees Homes is priced from the $400s. Craftmark Homes is selling single-family homes on half-acre wooded sites from the $500s. Craftmark is offering $15,000 toward closing costs on The Oakton, available at $722,905 for immediate move-in. This estate home features 4,500 square feet, a gourmet kitchen with morning room, stately brick front, and three-car garage on a wooded cul-de-sac.

Homes at The Pointe are surrounded by a 175-acre nature preserve that features trails winding through the woods to a tributary of the South River. The Pointe is across the street from Central elementary and middle schools and South River High School. Just down the street is the Marketplace at South River Colony, where residents can shop, dine, bank, and work out. South River Colony also includes a post office, library, senior center, and the new Anne Arundel County Police Station.

Segments of the course included counseling techniques, understanding human behavior, and professional knowledge of the required steps in the real estate sales sequence. The course is one in a series of classes required to qualify for the Certified Residential Specialist professional designation.
