West Baltimore man is third Marylander to die of West Nile

A 69-year-old Baltimore man previously found to have the West Nile virus has died.

The man, from the western part of the city, has not been identified publicly. His death was announced Thursday by the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

He is the sixth Maryland resident found to have West Nile virus to die this year.

So far this year, 19 cases have been reported in the state. In 2001, there were six reported cases of West Nile in Maryland, including three deaths.
