Today's game

Navy (1-5) at Boston College (3-2)

Site: Alumni Stadium, Chestnut Hill, Mass.

Time: noon

Radio: WJFK (1300 AM), WNAV (1430)

Line: Boston College by 28 1/2

Series: Boston College leads 16-11

Last game: Virginia Tech beat Boston College, 28-23; Rice beat Navy, 17-10

Navy offense vs. Boston College defense: Navy's offense struggled last week, gaining a season-low 205 yards against Rice. It won't get any easier this week, as the Eagles are giving up only 153 yards a game rushing. LBs Vinny Ciurciu and Josh Ott will likely be in QB Craig Candeto's face all day.

Navy defense vs. Boston College offense: Navy's pass defense has been its biggest weakness this year. The Mids rank 115th of 117 Division I-A teams in pass defense efficiency. Boston College QB Brian St. Pierre will likely test CBs Shalimar Brazier and Vaughn Kelley early.

Special teams: Eagles return man Will Blackmon is a threat to go all the way. He is averaging 24 yards a return and had an 83-yarder last week against Virginia Tech. Navy has stopped turning the ball over on kickoffs, but the Mids are averaging only 3.2 yards on punt returns.
