Meeting on drought, effect on wells slated

Howard County Councilman Allan H. Kittleman will hold a community meeting to discuss the drought and its effect on wells in western Howard County. Residents will have an opportunity to meet with officials from the Maryland Department of the Environment to ask questions and express concerns.

The meeting will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Lisbon Volunteer Fire Department, 1330 Woodbine Road (Route 94), Lisbon.

Woodmont Academy moving to Howard next fall

Woodmont Academy, an independent Catholic grade school for children in kindergarten through eighth grade, has announced plans to relocate its Baltimore County campus to 67 acres on Route 144, near Route 97, in western Howard County in fall next year.

A pre-kindergarten program for 4-year-olds will offer morning and afternoon classes five days a week. The school will hold an open house at its current location, 10817 Davis Ave., Woodstock, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 17.

The academy opened in Woodstock in 1995 with 46 students. The school expects an enrollment of 380 students when the new campus opens.
