Driver goes wrong way on I-95, crashes, dies

THE BALTIMORE SUN

One person was killed and four others were injured when a car traveling north in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 during last night's rain collided with a van in the Savage area, state police said.

The male driver of a 1991 Honda CRX left a rest area near Route 32 on the southbound entrance ramp about 9:30 p.m. and was in the fast lane when he collided head-on with a van occupied by four people near Vollmerhausen Road, police said.

The driver of the Honda died at the scene. The others were taken to Howard County General Hospital with injuries that did not appear life-threatening, police said. Southbound traffic was detoured onto Route 32 until about 12:30 this morning.
