Worker at BWI dies while using jackhammer

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A construction worker at Baltimore-Washington International Airport died yesterday - apparently electrocuted while operating a jackhammer, a spokeswoman for the Maryland Aviation Administration said.

Ernest Oden Jones, 52, of the 1800 block of Copeland St. in the Bywater Estates Apartments in Annapolis was working in a trench across from the passenger terminal's lower level about 1:30 p.m. when he collapsed onto the jackhammer, said spokeswoman Cheryl Carley.

Paramedics and police officers attempted to revive Jones before he was taken by ambulance to North Arundel Hospital. He was pronounced dead there at 2:30 p.m. Authorities were awaiting an autopsy.
