10-year-old boy injured in fall over railing at BWI

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A 10-year-old boy was admitted to the intensive care unit of the Johns Hopkins Children's Center yesterday after falling over a railing on the international pier at Baltimore-Washington International Airport.

The child -- whose name was not released -- had swelling to his head and was heavily sedated, said Cheryl L. Carley, a BWI spokeswoman.

Carley said the boy fell from the airport's B level to the A level in front of the customs exit about 3 p.m. Bystanders saw the boy looking over the railing, and then saw his twin brother pull him up, apparently in an effort to help him see better. Then the boy fell, she said.
