AUCKLAND, New Zealand - OneWorld Challenge from the Seattle Yacht Club became the only team to win all eight races in the opening round of sailing's Louis Vuitton Cup after inflicting a third straight defeat on BMW Racing's Oracle today

Nine teams are competing off the Auckland coast for the right to challenge Team New Zealand in February in the 31st America's Cup, the oldest international sporting event, first held in 1851.

As many as five races that were postponed last week were scheduled today, before an eight-day break to allow teams to repair or upgrade boats. Races were sailed over four legs rather than the usual six.

OneWorld defeated Oracle by 40 seconds to move to eight points at the top of the standings. Oracle has a chance to end its losing streak later today when it races against Sweden's Victory Challenge.

GBR Challenge of Britain, which beat Oracle on Saturday, had its third straight win, defeating Mascalzone Latino of Italy by 54 seconds. The Italian team has another scheduled race against compatriot Prada Challenge.

Team Dennis Conner's Stars & Stripes was leading Le Defi after the French team suffered gear failure, only to have officials call off the race because winds were excessive.

OneWorld will lose a point at the end of the next round for a rules breach before the racing.
