Skotz earns certification in community transit

Ron Skotz, deputy transit administrator for Corridor Transportation Corp., has passed a certification examination and been designated a certified community transit manager by the Community Transportation Association of America.

Corridor Transportation, a private, nonprofit group, manages local bus services in Howard County and the Baltimore-Washington corridor.

Koppenhoefer honored with annual NAMI prize

Ken Koppenhoefer of Ellicott City, program director of On Our Own of Howard County, is the recipient of the 2002 Annual NAMI Award, given Sept. 15 at the awards picnic of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill.

The center, which officially opened in April that year, serves people with mental illness by providing a place to socialize and share meals on weekends and holidays.
