A West Baltimore man was killed yesterday afternoon when the car he was driving crashed into the back of a parked tractor-trailer on the shoulder of northbound North Charles Street near Sheppard and Enoch Pratt Hospital in Baltimore County.

Michael D. Island, 44, of Scott Street was pronounced dead at the scene, said Baltimore County police Cpl. John Young.

The driver of the tractor-trailer - who was not in the truck at the time of the accident - was not identified by police and was not charged in the accident.
